Christie's Asthma, Overturned Truck Highlights of the Week

Take a look back at what happened in and around Jefferson last week.

Ah, the lazy hazy days of summer. Lots of time spent outdoors, but maybe not as much time spent at the computer. So, if that’s the case, and you missed some Patch items, we’re here to bring you up to speed. Here’s what happened this week:

Sunday: We rocked along with Almost Queen, the tribute band that played at Camp Jefferson on Saturday night and our couponing maven Georgia Pease told us about all the fun parks in town.

Monday: Editor Sue Toth showed you what a workout with a personal trainer looks like; freeholder Margaret Nordstrom questioned 38 ballots in her quest for a spot on the November ballot; the J-Town Trivia Challenge asked what Woody Allen movie was filmed at Bertrand Island.

Tuesday: We learned that weed harvesting will continue on Lake Hopatcong; we found out about what’s happening on stages throughout the state; we saw the new patio at the Department for Persons With Disabilities; we also found that Jefferson Township mayor Russell Felter feels confident that the U.S. government will not default on its loans.

Wednesday: Our Practical Spirit column featured a Jefferson Township pastor weighing in on same-sex marriage; we also took a walk down Memory Lane with a look at the history of Bertrand Island; finally, we reported on an overturned tractor trailer on Route 15 that caused a fuel spill.

Thursday: We learned about the hospitalization of Gov. Christie with asthma symptoms; Our Get Out column featured things to do on the weekend; and we started a new feature, “A Picture and a Paragraph”.

Friday: We found out the winners of our J-Town Trivia Challenge; we took a look back at a soccer camp that took place over the week; and our Down the Shore feature told us what’s happening at the Jersey shore for the weekend.

Saturday: Our Day Tripper feature took a look at the Land of Make Believe in Hope, NJ and we looked at the baseball camp that took place last week at the high school.
