Cops: Nobody Hurt in Marina Fire

Blaze extinguished quickly; no boats damaged, police said.

A fire at Screen Printing USA on Howard Blvd. was extinguished within 30 minutes, according to Jefferson police.

The fire started inside the business housed at the Lake Hopatcong Marina on Friday afternoon. Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 2, Jefferson Rescue Squad, the Mount Arlington Fire Department and Mount Arlington Rescue Squad were on the scene.

“We have no idea yet how it started, but they knocked it down very quickly,” said Captain Eric Wilsusen of the Jefferson Township Police. “No boats were on fire. They were able to be moved out in time.”

No one was injured in the fire, Wilsusen added.

Jefferson Township Police Detective Rich Geib is investigating.

Drivers could not bear right onto Howard Blvd. from Espanong Rd. as of 4 p.m. on Friday. Wilsusen did not believe the closure would last much longer.
