DiColo Named to Athletic Group's Post
Jefferson High athletic director on publication committee of NIAAA.
John DiColo said believes in sharing. The Jefferson Township High School athletic director wants to share ideas that have worked for him and the school. He will have a new way to do that, as he was named to the publications committee of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA), the “national voice for athletic administrators,” according to its web site.
In his role, DiColo will assist in deciding what articles will make the NIAAA’s quarterly journal, Interscholastic Athletic Administration.
“I’ve had articles published in the magazine in the past,” he said. “Now I’ll get to help decide what articles go in future issues. Our first committee meeting is in December, so I’ll have a better idea of what my role is then.”
The NIAAA also publishes newsletters for athletic administrators, which DiColo will also help edit.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” DiColo said. “I’ve been trying to get onto this national committee for a couple of years now. It’s an opportunity to represent the school, the conference and the state on a national level.”
DiColo is also anxious to make a contribution to the association that has helped him over the years.
“I believe in paying it forward,” he said. “If we have an idea or a program that’s worked, I always want to share it, because I never know when I might need some help from someone else.”
DiColo’s latest honor comes on the heels of his sectional award of merit from the Directors of Athletics Administrators of New Jersey (DAANJ).
“I received the North Jersey Sectional Award of Merit,” he said. “It was an honor, because only four athletic directors are selected.”
“I’d like to congratulate John DiColo on this honor,” schools superintendent Joseph Kraemer said.
