Dogs Owners: 'We Followed Every Requirement of the Consent Order'
Kolbs react to testimony in ongoing case against them in Jefferson Municipal Court.
To the editor:
We followed every requirement of the consent order including the erection of the required fence, kennel and signage.
We walked our dogs with muzzles, spranger collars and 12" leashes every day at 5:30 or earlier in the dark on empty streets in order not to scare or disturb neighbors who may have followed the negative, biased stories written in the Jersey Journal.
As an added precaution, the Kolbs took pictures every morning of the dogs wearing muzzles, leashes and collars before leaving on their walks.
We would like to point out that the only testimony of seeing the dogs unmuzzled is from a questionable witness who seemed unable to remember any details on the day in question.
We do not deny that we walked the dogs without muzzles for 5-7 minutes at the request of Cpl. Christie on the day of Oct. 18, 2013.
Finally, we would like to point out that as per the testimony of Sgt. Steve Post, three neighbors complained to the mayor's office that they saw the Kolbs walking their dogs — not walking their dogs without muzzles — because Steve Post believed that the consent order said it was illegal for them to walk their dogs — and later found out this was not true.

You make ZERO mention of the prior attacks of your dogs in Jersey City and the fact that you were required to ship your dogs out of state back in 2009, and yet they were found back in your home in 2011. What about that court order? You are very lucky that neither of you are in jail.

Due to dogs on a street behind a fence and inside? I do not care what animal is or is not on a street...you do not ever leave a kid under age unnattended.....so that cognitive dissonance sad asp excuse to justify harassing the Kolbs is mute. Get a life, evil town...there are many boycotting your county and industries for this obscene, chronic disruptions on our lives. Grow up. With serious issues nation and worldwide, its remarkably odd how much effort all of you exert for your witchhunt. What do yoy want, a public hanging next for your group irrational vamp fest is beyond creepy. Its not even really about the dogs, just as domestic violent abusers will attack and prey on their victims pets, kids, finance control, etc... This is standard group think bully domestic violence and there is no excuse for what this fam and the dogs have endured. I understand if any go awol on spellcheck, for you all have already proven to be beyond anal retentive. This story has wasted and duressed with impact, many outside your vile area, and as it continues and if are children must endure another dog loss....with the ptsd etc from this already...hope you dont mind losing money, time, for you sure did not care about the nations well being, nor the Kolbs, so its only quantum physics, for every action has an equal and oppos reaction. Be wise and let her have the last dog so she can just move away from this absolute bizarre trolls.

I've been following this from Australia and it's clearly a witch hunt. Look at Chris above, it's all about fear and what he thinks happened before. Zero mention Chris of the false statements made in 2012 by neighbours and police. I mean really, the policeman stalking them? One dog dies in custody and you want to make sure the other dies and that the owners are "punished" through fines and payments they can't afford because you keep the dogs locked up and they are supposed to pay for this? Shameful actions and shameful ignorance.
Yes Harriett, Let her have the last dog so she can move away from this terrible place. I expect there is a lot of greed and vindictive people behind this. Look at how much money they are stealing by ransoming the dogs like this. How many other people who moved to this place were harrassed and run out of town by this bullying behavior? Shame shame shame. Hopefully now the world is learning about this backwoods hillbilly town they will leave you well alone to wallow in your own ignorance. At least you have one good judge there...how long before you vote him out?

Nancy, just remember that this all started in Jersey City way back in 2008. Jersey City is in no way a "backwoods hillbilly town". I understand that you are from Australia, and may not be familiar with NJ, so I will explain that Jersey City is the 2nd largest city in New Jersey and is located directly across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan (New York City). Since moving to Jefferson in 2011, the court battles have just continued.
