While some might think of golf as a leisurely activity, to the golf team at , it’s anything but.
The golf team has been hard at work all season long, and the work is paying off. The team sports a 20-1 record, with its only loss coming by two strokes to Montville. Beyond that, the Falcons have dominated the league with the strong play of seniors Ryan Snouffer and Dan Olive and sophomores Joe Moretti and Vinny Canarozzi.
Coach John Cinotti had high praise for his team, particularly the seniors.

“Ryan and Dan both work very hard on their game, and on the team,” he said. “I’ve had them since they were freshmen and I’ve watched them grow. They are very team-oriented, and help out the younger kids now.”
Snouffer’s strengths are both his ability to “hit the ball a long way,” and his short game, Cinotti said.

“I think my putting and short game are my biggest strengths,” Snouffer, who has been playing the game since he was about 11, said. “But I can hit the ball for distance too.”
As for Olive, “he can get up and down from anywhere. He does what he needs to do to come up with a strong round,” Cinotti said.
Olive, who got into golf because “my dad always had a club in my hand,” said his short game is his strength.
“I need to work on my mental game,” he added.
Joe Moretti’s grandfather taught him to play golf when he was about six years old, he said. And now he’s using that knowledge to help the Falcons, especially on the putting green.
“Putting is my strength,” Moretti said. “I can usually make a putt to save my round.”
Vinny Canarozzi came to the course a little bit later, as a sixth grader, “after I stopped playing baseball,” he recalled. He finds his strength to be his ability to keep his focus throughout a round.
Come out and support the golf team as they take on Pope John High School on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at .
