It's Only Rock 'n Roll But They Liked It
Glimmer Twins satisfy Jefferson with Rolling Stones tribute.
The weather may not have provided satisfaction, but based on the audience’s response, the Glimmer Twins did.
The threat of thunderstorms forced opening night of the Jefferson Highlights Summer Concert series to move from the outdoor Art Bonito Amphitheater at Camp Jefferson to the auditorium of Jefferson Township High School, but the crowd didn’t seem to care once the Rolling Stones tribute band hit the stage.
The band rocked the crowd with a wide array of Rolling Stones hits ranging from the band’s earliest hits to its more recent work.
Bearing almost uncanny resemblances, Keith Call played the Mick Jagger role and Bernie Bollendorf acted as Keith Richards. The rest of the band included Mike Rubino on guitar, Chris Bollendorf on drums, Rob Eckstedt on bass, Mike Dancik on keyboards, Valorie Steel on vocals and Bill Cancel on sax and flute.
The set list included Start Me Up, Brown Sugar, Bitch, Carol, Ruby Tuesday, Get Off My Cloud, She’s So Cold, Wild Horses, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, Honkey Tonk Women, Happy, Tumblin’ Dice, Miss You, Jumping Jack Flash, Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil, Dead Flowers, Under My Thumb, Angie, Before They Make Me Run, Paint It Black, Monkey Man, Satisfaction, It’s Only Rock and Roll, Bye Bye Johnny and You Can’t Always Get What You Want.
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story had the sax player incorrectly named. The musician who played on Saturday night was Bill Cancel. We apologize for the inconvenience.
