Jefferson Stores Offer Holiday Deals All Weekend
Several businesses have Black Friday and Small Business Saturday specials over holiday weekend.
It's officially the most wonderful time of the year, and local businesses in Jefferson are starting off this holiday season by offering special Black Friday and Small Business Saturday sales.
From antiques, to jewelry, bridal gowns, and more, residents can head over to local stores to find some good deals.
At Buccieri's Gems & Jewelry in Oak Ridge, owner Kathy Buccieri said the store is offering 40 percent off select items the whole weekend, and 15 percent off everything in the store on Small Business Saturday.
The store offers a variety of items including candles, jewlery, watches, clocks and greeting cards.
Buccieri said the store has been getting new shipments in for the holidays, and said business normally starts to get busy this time of year.
She said the "convenience" and "personal" aspects of local businesses is what she believes customers prefer over large retail stores.
"It allows the local people to still have those places to go for personal service and for those last minute gifts without having to travel far to get them," she said.
Buccieri said the sense of community that local businesses bring is what makes it unique.
"I think every community needs their small businesses," she said. "They do a lot to support the community by doing donations, sponsoring events."
Over at Country Cottage Antiques on Route 15, owner Melanie Drew said the store is also offering deals all weekend.
From Black Friday to Cyber Monday, Drew said the antique shop is allowing customers 20 percent off their entire purchase, after printing off a coupon from the store's Facebook page.
The store, which only opened last month, sells many things ranging from handmade items, vintage jewelry, furniture and more.
Drew also stressed the importance of local business.
"Especially dealing with antiques, it's memories, it's something that you can't find in the big box stores," she said.
While A. Bridal Co. & Formal in Lake Hopatcong won't be open on Black Friday, the store will be offering several Small Business Saturday sales.
Owner Christina Diblase said the store, which is appointment only, will give custumers $200 off all pre-ordered wedding gowns.
She said there's also a whole section that has dresses that range from $99 to $699, and also 50 percent off select gowns.
While many residents will also be heading to the mall to shop at large retailers, president of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce Dr. Bret Hartman said local businesse are important because the money goes back into the community at a higher rate.
"When you shop local 45 out of 100 dollars goes back into the local community, whereas if you shop at big stores, it's 14 dollars out of 100," he said.
