Meetings, Concerts and 5K On Tap This Week

Jefferson town council meets on Wednesday, Inferno 5K to be held Saturday.

 

Another busy week is beginning in Jefferson Township, with lots to keep you busy. You can hit a meeting or two, go to a concert or two or run a 5K. 

BILY Support Group: If you’re having trouble with your teenager’s behavior, this is the group to go to for support. It meets tonight at 7 p.m. at the Board of Education office.

Parent Meeting: The Jefferson Township High School Boys’ Soccer Association will hold its first meeting of the 2012 season on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the high school. If your son plays soccer for the high school, come to this meeting and find out how you can help the program.

Kids’ Month at Family Chiropractic: Wednesday starts Kids’ Month at Family Chiropractic. You can bring your kids into the office and get their spine checked. The hours are Monday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 3 – 7 p.m., Tuesday 3 – 6 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 3 – 7 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 3 – 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 - 10:30 a.m.

Township Council Meeting: The Jefferson Township council meets on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the municipal building. Included on the agenda are a hearing on a violation of Slomin's solicitor's permit; an application for a loan for dam repair of Lake Hartung; budget discussions on a new truck for Fire Company No. 1 and renovation of the Prospect Point Fire House and the appointment of a new firefighter, Kevin Thomas, to Fire Company No. 2.

Rave On Concert: The music of Buddy Holly lives on with the band Rave On, who will perform at the gazebo outside the municipal building on Friday night at 7 p.m. Bring a blanket or chair and a picnic, a snack or some beverages (non-alcoholic only).

Inferno 5K Run: Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 2 is sponsoring its third annual Inferno 5K Run on Saturday. This scenic certified 5K run kicks off at 9 a.m. It is followed by an awards ceremony, refreshments, entertainment and a kids ½-mile race. There is also a mile walk. The cost is $20 for advance registration and $25 on race day. For more information, contact www.jtfd2.com.

Bad Medicine Concert: The latest in the Jefferson Highlights Summer Concert Series features Bad Medicine performing the music of Bon Jovi. The concert will be at the Art Bonito Amphitheater at Camp Jefferson on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for children 11-17. Children under 10 are admitted free with an adult ticket.
