Friends rallying around the family of Budd Lake native and Belvidere resident Chris Connors who was killed in a car accident on Route 46 in October.
Friends of Chris Connors, the Mt. Olive Native killed in a car accident on route 46 in October, are hoping to make the holidays a little brighter for his family by hosting a fundraiser Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the Corner Pub in Flanders.
Connors left behind wife Michelle and children Michael, 12, Alexis, 11, Justin, 8, and Kayla, 7. This is not the first fundraiser organized for the Connors clan since the accident. Connors was known in life as someone loved by everyone, and his spirit of thoughfulness and putting others first sparked a grassroots efforts to give back to his family in their time of need.
Indeed his hometown 'Lakers and adopted community of Belvidere has been holding bake sales at sporting events as well as fundraiser t-shirt and bracelet sales to benefit the family in the wake of the tragedy.
According to Connors sister-in-law, Melissa Altadonna Kramer, the outpouring of love for her sister and her nieces and nephews has been overwhelming.
"I know Michelle and the kids greatly appriciate all the support they have recieved," Kramer said. "It's amazing how many people have stepped up and helped."
Kramer said each new act of kindness reminds them of the impact Chris Connors had in his life.
"It shows how much Chris was loved and is missed," Kramer said.
On Dec. 6, a group of Connors' friends are hosting the latest show of support with the Holiday Memorial Fundraiser for the family of Christopher Connors.
Entertainment includes live music by local artists The Routine, DJ Paul Nyce, and other entertainment to be announced. There will be 50/50 raffle, Laker memorabilia, and other items to benefit the Connors family.
According to the invitations, a $10 donation to the family is suggested and will be collected at the door.
Those who wish to help but cannot attend the fundraiser on Thursday have other ways to get involved.
A calendar for bringing meals to the Connors home was set up at the Care Calendar site. Those interested in signing up need only to log in with the ID number 128013 and the security code 2524.
The family is also accepting donations through the PNC Bank in Belvidere.
Donations can be made by going to the bank or by mailing a card to the bank for the "Connors Family Fund" at PNC Bank, 101 Mansfield St., Belvidere, NJ, 07823.
