Police: Man With Fake Gun Tried To Impersonate Cop

The following arrest information was supplied by the Jefferson Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

arrested a man they say was trying to impersonate one of them.

Police received a report a man was walking his dog in the Berkshire Ridge Condos on April 19 with an air soft handgun in his waistband, police said. The man was also showing residents a badge and telling them that he was an officer, police said.

William Benitez, 67 of Jefferson Township, was issued a summons and charged with possession of an illegal firearm and impersonating a public servant. He was taken to St. Clare’s Hospital for an evaluation.
