Power Back in Most of Township

Mayor Felter says majority of power was restored Sunday night.

The township went from being 99 percent without power the night Hurricane Sandy hit to almost fully restored nearly two weeks later.

Mayor Russell Felter said by Sunday night, the majority of residents got their power back.

"About everybody is up with power," he said. "All of the big areas are up. There might be a person here or there without power, but for the most part I think everyone is up."

Felter said JCP&L crews were out all weekend, and got a lot of power back on Sunday including the rest of Lake Shawnee, on Shore Road, and on Mason Street.

He said JCP&L crews were driving around town with street-by-street maps to see where existing outages were.

"They were going down every street to see if a service connection was pulled off the house, if wires were too low," he said. "They tried to fix all of that."

Many residents reported having power back throughout the weekend on our list of streets with power.

Felter said that JCP&L is still checking on homes without power. He said if residents still don't have power, they are encouraged to call JCP&L at 888-544-4877 to report it.

Not all the areas the mayor stated in this artical have been restored. Shore Road does not have power back. Actually JCP&L crews did not even come to the block untill after 3pm on Sunday. Sunday was the first time they had even come down the street in 2 weeks.
