Report: Jefferson SAT Scores Under NJ Average

Expulsions, suspensions are also below state average.

SAT scores went below the state average in 2010-2011 at , according to the New Jersey Department of Education School Report Cards, released on Thursday.

A typical Jefferson student scored 1,453, while the state average was 1,508. This is the second year district seniors have been below average. Jefferson students averaged 1,462 in 2009-2010, below the state average for that year of 1,515.

However, the percent of students who graduated passing both sections of the HSPA (high school proficiency assessment) was 85 percent, greater than the state’s 82.2 percent average.

The district came in at an average of 5 percent for student suspensions, well under the state average of 13 percent. Additionally, no students were expelled from the school system in 2010-2011, considerably less than the state’s total of 32.

As for attendance, the average amount of students in school per day for 2010-2011 was 93.9 percent, just under the state average of 94.6 percent. Teachers, however, were in attendance 98.9 percent of the time, greater than the state average of 96.2 percent.

Jefferson spends $16,094 per pupil per year, which is less than the state average of $17,469.
