Stay Off the Roads, State of Emergency Declared
Thousands without power, trees and wires down throughout the township.
All non-emergency vehicles are not allowed on township roadways until further notice after officials declared a State of Emergency in Jefferson late Monday night.
Mayor Russell Felter and Emergency Management Coordinator William Craig made the announcement as Tropical Storm Sandy ripped through the township Monday night.
Jefferson Police had warned earlier in the evening of the driving hazards with down trees and power lines.
More than 7,000 JCP&L customers in Jefferson were without power as of 8 p.m. Monday.

What a night. This had to be the worst storm I've ever been through and there have been quite a few. Praying all are safe. The clean up begins.
