Jefferson in Second Place in McMatch Food Donation Program

Residents can donate food in the contest until Sept. 21.

With just 11 days left in the McMatch county-wide food drive program, Jefferson Township is in second place, with $52 worth of goods donated, according to the leaderboard at the YouGiveGoods web site. Denville Township is in the lead with $318 worth of goods.

Jefferson is participating in the county-wide McMatch program, Morris County Municipal Action to Curb Hunger. Residents can drop off food in person to various locations in town, or donate online.

From now until Sept. 21, residents may drop off non-perishable foods at the Senior Center, the municipal building or the recreation department office. Donations will go to either the New Hope Food Pantry out of the Milton United Methodist Church or the food pantry at Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Residents may all participate online with this program, Rhinesmith said. Through yougivegoods.com, residents can order what they’d like to donate and yougivegoods.com ships the order to Jefferson.
