Township Still in Second Place in McMatch Food Drive
There is still time left to make donations.
With the end of the week looming as the deadline to contribute to the McMatch food drive contest, Jefferson Township is in second place in its division, having donated $398 worth of food so far.
Overall the township is in eighth place of the 18 communities that have chosen to participate.
Donations to date have come from township residents Vickie Nichols, Regina Makowski, Janet Boetticher, Kimberly Wargacki, Robyn Flatt, Michelle Palus and one anonymous contributor.
“We challenge residents to show their hearts, make a donation and help us meet our goal,” said Recreation Department head Grace Rhinesmith, who is in charge of collecting the food for the program. “We want to give special thanks in advance to the Jefferson community for their caring and supportive donations.”
Food collected during the program will support the New Hope Food Pantry at the Milton United Methodist Church and the food pantry at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
Residents can also contribute online by visiting yougivegoods.com and choosing a $25, $50, $75, $100, $250 or $500 box. The food will be shipped to the pantry of their choice.
