Two Boats, Car Damaged in Lake Hopatcong Marine Fire

No injuries in apparent electrical blaze not believed to be suspicious.

A small wooden storage building at Lake Hopatcong Marine on Howard Boulevard was engulfed in flames early on Sunday morning, according to Jefferson Township police.

Officer Chris Quidort responded to the fire, in which two boats and a vehicle that were located near the shed were damaged.

Det. Rich Geib also responded to investigate the fire, the cause of which is still under investigation. However, the fire is believed to be electrical in nature, and nothing appears to be suspicious, police said.

This is the second fire at the site in just over five months. The last one started at Screen Printing USA, in the same complex but not the same building as Lake Hopatcong Marine, in March. That fire was not deemed suspicious either, but electrical in nature, according to police.

Jefferson Township Fire Co. No. 2, Fire Co. No. 1 and the Jefferson Rescue Squad responded and extinguished the fire.

I wonder if the same person did the original electrical or same materials were used in both buildings. That's just odd. Thank God nobody was hurt.
