Where to Get Gas – Tell Your Neighbors

High demand and lack of electricity is creating lines and hours-long backups.

Lines have stretched for blocks and lasted hours before some residents have been able to get gas.

If they even found a place to fill up.

From vehicle fill-ups to the need to keep the generators running, gasoline is at a premium as a post-Hurricane Sandy New Jersey continues to wait for electricity to return.

So, we're asking you, the faithful Patch readers, to tell your neighbors where gas is available, for how much, and what the wait time was when you were there.

Add those details to our comments section, and thanks for helping out.

Awwww sorry to hear that Dave. I did not even stop. Looked like a perfect scene for an angry mob. Thank God I fled both cars before the storm.

There were no lines in Nyack and New City, New York yesterday ....all the shops and restaurants were open as well. Worth the drive for no hassles. However back road 17 up the mountain can be a little hazardous with downed trees.

Route 23 in the Butler/Kinnelon area has about 6 gas stations open. Waited this morning in line for 45 minutes...not too bad. Bring CASH - at least the station I was at was cash only.

I had good luck @ the quick check in Sussex at the corner of 23 & 565. Only 1/2 hour wait. They're still taking credit/debit and of course cash. They also have a separate line for gas cans.
