Woman's Club Builds Garden Honoring Robin Carlson
Garden is an addition to the Creative Playground.
The Creative Playground behind the Jefferson Township municipal building has a new addition in the Robin Carlson Reading Garden, and it comes thanks to the Jefferson Township Junior Woman’s Club.
Carlson was a teacher at White Rock School, who died of cancer at the age of 31.
The money for the project came as a result of funds the club raised at its annual Wrobo Run. The club has sponsored the run for several years, and in 2005 renamed it after 2nd Lt. J.T. Wroblewski, who was killed in Iraq in 2004.
“Usually when we raise the money we just write a check for a cause we’ve chosen,” said Kimberley Reid of the Juniors Club. “This year we decided to do something different and work on the garden in Robin’s name. She was an amazing teacher, and we are very proud that we chose her as our cause this year.”
The club worked with Jason Nicholas of J2N Architecture, who donated the architectural plans for the garden and local landscaper Paul Johnson of PNJ Landscaping.
Reid noted that local Girl Scout troops will be making benches for the area, and that a plaque honoring Carlson will be in place soon.

What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful young woman. Robin Carlson touched the lives of so many and it is inspirational for her to be remembered in such a loving way. Kudos to all who participated in this project!

I agree that this is a beautiful tribute. When I went to take the photos for this piece, I was touched at all the work that had been done. None of my children had Mrs. Carlson as we live in the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson, but it certainly sounds like she was a wonderful young woman. What a tragic loss to Jefferson. I'm happy that Patch can help to tell her story.
