Illuminating Poetry

 From 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Madison Public Library.
Why Go: 
Because you can bring a favorite poem with you, create a design and cut it on a printing block.

Howard Bell Memorial 5K
Where/When:
 From 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Mount Tabor Country Club, 1 Country Club Road, Mount Tabor.
Why Go: 
Because this is a 5K road race and one-mile "Fun Run" to benefit Mount Tabor Children's Day.
Price: 
$3 to $25.

Spanish Language Storytime
Where/When:
 From 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Madison Public Library.
Why Go: 
Because simple stories, songs and finger plays for kids ages 6 and up will be the focus of the program.

 Free.

Zumba Fitness Class
Where/When:
 From 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Butler VFW, 69 Carey Avenue in Butler.
Why Go:
 Because you’d like to enjoy this Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning, dance fitness class.

 $10.

Yoga
Where/When:
 At 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Montville Township Public Library.
Why Go: 
To practice your poses at these free bi-weekly yoga sessions. Don’t forget to dress comfortably.
Pricing:
 Free.

Tai Chi
Where/When:
 At 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Montville Township Public Library.
Why Go: 
To learn the art of Tai Chi with instructor Gary Carbone.
Pricing:
 $48 for eight sessions or $10 per class at the door.

The Mothers’ Club
Where/When:
 From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Postpartum Place in Chatham.
Why Go: 
Mothers and their babies can come to this fun, social time and receive expert advice in a safe and supportive environment.  
Pricing:
 Free.

Closing "Tween" Night Party and Movie
When/Where: 
At 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bernards Township Library in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: 
Because it's a way for students in grades 5 and 6 to say goodbye to summer while laughing with friends to Jack Black's antics in the new Gulliver's Travels.

Chess Club
Where/When:
 From 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Jefferson Township Public Library.
Why Go: 
Because you are interested in playing a few games of chess.
Pricing:
 Free.

"Wizards-The Race Around The World"
When/Where: 
At 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Hillsborough Public Library in Hillsborough. 
Why Go: 
For children ages 5 to 12 to learn about the science of illusions with visual experiments and exciting family fun.
Pricing: 
Free to Somerset County Library card holders and eligible residents. Registration required.

"Big Red" Outdoor Movie
When/Where: 
At 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Warren Township Library in Warren. 
Why Go: 
Because it's triumphant story of courage about an orphan and a champion Irish Setter told with Disney charmBring your blanket and picnic dinner and enjoy some quality family time. Come early and learn about rescue dogs from Rawhide Rescue.

"Free To Be You and Me" Musical
When/Where: 
At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Bishop Janes United Methodist Church in Basking Ridge. 
Why Go: 
To hear local youth talent perform a light hearted musical with a good, solid message. The lively '70s tunes will have the whole family smiling.
Pricing: 
$12 for adults. $10 for students and seniors.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream"
When/Where: 
At 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Bernards Township Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge. 
Why Go:
 To discover the difficulties and magic of love in Shakespeare's most beloved comedy performed under the stars.
Pricing: 
Free.

Early American Silversmiths Exhibition
Where/When:
 From 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum in Morristown.
Why Go: 
Because the exhibit focuses on the three centers of American silver-making in the 18th century—featuring Boston, New York and Philadelphia silversmiths and exploring the master/apprentice relationships.
Price: Admission is $6 for adults; $5 for seniors and students; and free for those 12 and under.

Downtown Concert Series
Where/When:
 At 6 p.m. Friday at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts in Madison.
Why Go: 
Because you can bring a blanket or chair and enjoy a free family-friendly outdoor music concert on the lawn of the Museum.
Price: 
Free.

Historic House Museum at Fosterfields 
Where/When:
 On Friday at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township.
Why Go: 
Because you can tour The Willows, a Gothic Revival-style house museum at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township that was originally built in 1854 for a grandson of Paul Revere.
Price: 
$6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 6 to 14), $2 for children 2 to 3.

Parachute Play
Where/When:
 From 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the Madison Public Library.
Why Go: 
Because kids can have fun on Friday moving, playing and singing around a giant rainbow colored parachute.

 Free. 

Kip & Mr. Microphone 
Where/When:
 From 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday KaBob's at the Northwood Inn.
Why Go:
 Because you can bring the whole family by and belt out some tunes with Kip.
Pricing:
 Free.

Family Yoga
Where/When:
 From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Jefferson Township Public Library.
Why Go: 
Families can enjoy the benefits of yoga by learning a variety of classic poses, presented by Michelle Magnotti of Yoga Flows Inc.
Pricing:
 Free.

Yoga for Ages 8 and Up
Where/When:
 From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Jefferson Township Public Library.
Why Go: 
Because children can enjoy the benefits of Yoga by being introduced to various poses that can build strength, flexibility, balance and concentration.
Pricing:
 Free.

Hillsborough Township's Family Campout and Memorial Fishing Derby
When/Where: 
Campout begins at 6 p.m. on Friday and ends at 7 a.m. on Saturday. The fishing derby will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Both events will be held at Ann Van Middlesworth Park in Hillsborough. 
Why Go: 
To experience family adventure with a night of fishing and camping under the stars. It's a special family night to make memories and lasting friendships. 
Pricing: 
$5 per camper (children under 3 free), and $4 per child for fishing participation. Campout and fishing together are discounted at $7. Registration required.

Music of "Due South"
When/Where: 
At 7 p.m. on Friday at Ann Van Middlesworth Park in Hillsborough.
Why Go: 
Because it's the close of the Summer Concert Series. Bring your blankets and picnic dinners for the summer's last music under the stars.
Pricing: 
Free.  

Summer Drawing Studio 
Where/When:
 From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Morristown.
Why Go: 
It’s an open drawing opportunity that includes models, still-lifes, architecture, abstract and more.
Pricing:
 Free.

The Fuzzbox Teen Center
Where/When:
 From 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at 214 West Mill Rd. in Long Valley.
Why Go: Because The Fuzzbox is a place for students in grades seven through 12 can hang out in a fun, supervised atmosphere where they can go to be involved in sports, games, music, art, and more, while being provided with free food and drinks. Fridays are for high school students and Saturdays are for middle-school students.
Pricing: Free.

"13" the Musical
When/Where: 
On Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Kelsey Theatre in West Windsor.
Why Go: 
It's a grown-up story about growing up. Discover "cool" with an unforgettable rock score.
Pricing: 
$12 to $16 per ticket.

Tom Sawyer
When/Where: On Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Somerset Valley Playhouse in Hillsborough. 
Why Go: 
It's your last chance to experience the hijinks of youth with this musical performance of a classic American story.

$12 per ticket.

Father's Group 
Where/When:
 From 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Postpartum Place in Chatham.
Why Go: 
Because you’re a new dad and you have some important questions.
Price: 
Free.

Parsippany FD Golf Outing
Where/When:
 At 7 a.m. on Saturday at the Knoll Golf Club West in Parsippany.
Why Go: 
It’s a day of golf and helps the fire department. What else do you need to hear?
Price: 
$115.

All-Abilities Run
Where/When: 
9 a.m. on Saturday at the Morristown Running Company.
Why Go: To start off your Saturday with a 5-mile group run and finish it off with a free bagel.
Pricing: Free.

"Come Fly With Me" Remote Controlled Air Show
When/Where: 
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Duderstadt Turf Field in Warren.
Why Go: 
It's a family event with the biggest display of remote controlled helicopters and airplanes and an acrobatics show. Kids can build their own gliders and soar with a sense of pride. 
Pricing: 
Free. Registration required.

Morris Plains Farmers Market
Where/When:
 From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at The Merchant Block of Morris Plains.
Why Go:
 You can pick up some homemade mozzarella and ravioli, freshly baked bread and some of New Jersey's best cheesecakes.

 Bring your wallet.

Jefferson Summer Concert Series
Where/When:
 From 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday at 81 Weldon Rd, Lake Hopatcong.
Why Go: 
Because it’s a Bon Jovi cover band, and you’re from NJ.
Pricing:
 Free.

The Fuzzy Lemons Play the Bickford
Where/When:
 At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Bickford Theatre in Morris Township.
Why Go: 
Because you get a chance to listen to some great music and all proceeds will benefit educational programs at Historic Speedwell.

 $8.

Chatham Borough Farmers Market 
Where/When:
 From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Railroad Plaza and Fairmont Avenue in Chatham.
Why Go:
 To get some of the best Jersey Fresh produce, Jersey Shore seafood, pasture-raised meat, poultry and eggs, honey, baked goods, fresh mozzarella, specialty prepared foods of all kinds, and more. The market will also have cooking demonstrations.

Know Your Numbers: Healthy Lifestyle Challenge 
Where/When:
 From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Chatham New Jersey Transit Station.
Why Go: 
Because it’s a great way to start keeping track of what you eat and the amount of physical activity you participate in each week.
Pricing:
 Free.

"Girl's Night Out at the Mall"
When/Where: 
From 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Bridgewater Commons in Bridgewater. 
Why Go: 
Because it an evening of makeovers, manicures, discount shopping and more, all benefiting Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity. Now, that's a good reason to go shopping.
Pricing: 
$5 donation.

RoboRaiders Car Wash
When/Where: 
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Hillsborough Elementary School in Hillsborough. 
Why Go: 
To help support HHS' Robotics Competition Team and drive away shining.
Pricing: 
$5 per car. $7 per truck.

Full Throttle Car Show
When/Where: 
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Manville High School in Manville.  
Why Go: 
To help support the Manville High School marching band and to enjoy some nostalgia, music, and vendors with other car lovers.

Free admission.   

Build Your Own Pencil Box
When/Where: 
From 9 am to noon on Saturday at the Home Depot in Bridgewater. 
Why Go: 
For children ages 5 to 12 to create their own pencil box for the upcoming start of the new school year.

Adriane Post and Friends Play Macchulloch Hall
Where/When:
 At 4 p.m. on Sunday at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum in Morristown.
Why Go: 
Because Adriane Post, the great-granddaughter of Dorothea Miller Post, who lived at Macculloch Hall, will perform.

Rebel's Pony Palooza
When/Where:
 From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Lord Stirling Park Riding Stable in Basking Ridge.

Because it's a palooza of a summer celebration for Rebel, the minature pony. Pony rides, games, stories, refreshments, and a surprise costume show will be part of the fun.

Washington Valley Fire Company Flea Market

From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Washington Valley Volunteer Fire Company No. 4 in Warren.

Historic Codington Farmstead Tour
