The Family Success Center at Project Self-Sufficiency will host a free workshop, “Transition from School to Adult Life,” on Wednesday, September 19th, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The presentation will be targeted to parents and teens who want to explore the options available to students with disabilities, including post secondary education, employment and adult services. The workshop is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Project Self-Sufficiency is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.
“This workshop is ideal for parents and teens who are interested in the breadth of opportunities available after high school,” noted Deborah Berry-Toon, Executive Director of Project Self-Sufficiency. “Parents and young adults will learn how to access the information, resources and support needed to plan for a successful future at home, school and in the community.”
The workshop is presented by the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network, the leading parent advocacy agency whose mission is to empower families and to inform and involve professionals and other individuals in the healthy development and educational rights of children. The workshop is made possible through funding from the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education.
