Grand Opera Returns to North Jersey on Sunday

Verismo Opera brings Giuseppe Verdi’s classic masterpiece, La Traviata, to the North Jersey stage.  Last presented by this prominent, regional performing arts company in 2006, Verismo Opera will unveil this lavish production on Sunday, April 6, 3:00 p.m., at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), located at 30 North Van Brunt Street, in Englewood, New Jersey.

Under Artistic Director Lucine Amara, one of the Metropolitan Opera’s luminary performers, Verismo Opera celebrates its 25th anniversary and Verdi’s 200th birthday.  The grand opera company launches its new season, Vive la France, with the new production La Traviata presented in four acts with Francesco Maria Piave’s libretto.

Set in the backdrop of high society in the early 1800s in Paris, France, this tumultuous love story, shrouded in sacrifice and misunderstanding, will unfold on the stage under director Evelyn La Quaif.  The fully staged, traditional production will be presented with the cast singing in Italian and English supertitles provided.
