5 Things: Decorate Your Home and Win a Prize

'Tis the season for lights and decorations! Nothing says Christmas like a house full of colorful lights. Or perhaps you're of the more elegant genre, using white lights and wreathes to adorn your home.

Whatever your taste, you can win $100,000 for the Jefferson school district, or $500 toward your electric bill. Here are five things you need to know about Patch's Deck the House contest.

1. You Need to Know When: The contest runs from Dec. 8 – Dec. 26.
2. You Need to Know How: Just decorate your house and then break out your camera and take some pictures. Then upload them to Jefferson Patch.
3. You Need to Know Who Will Pick: Patch has a team of judges that will choose the finalists.
4. You Need to Know About Winning: More than 800 local winners will represent their communities in the national contest. Of those, 24 finalists will win $500 toward their December electric bills.
5. You Need to Know More About Winning: Of those 24 finalists, one grand prize winner will be chosen, and $100,000 will be given to the school district in which that person lives.
