Christmas Comes to Jefferson This Weekend

Annual Christmas in the Village event stirs holiday cheer.

You know it’s Christmas time in Jefferson with the arrival of Christmas in the Village. The has sponsored this weekend full of holiday cheer for the past six years, and the festivities are coming this weekend.

The weekend kicks off on Friday night with the annual tree lighting at the municipal building’s municipal building. Santa will make his grand entrance to town during this celebration.

Saturday includes a whole host of events at venues throughout town. The day starts with a pancake breakfast, and continues with performances by bands from several district schools, the Jefferson Community Band, harmonium players, dance performances and sing-alongs. Fire Company No. 1 will host a holiday craft and vendor market and Camp Jefferson will host a visit with Santa and activities for children.

A gingerbread house contest is also on the schedule for Saturday.

On Sunday the Jefferson Township Historical Museum offers costumed docents giving tours of the museum. The Jefferson Community Chorus will also perform “Season of Song” at Our Lady Star of the Sea church.
