Eat at Wendy's Thursday to Benefit 'Alonso Strong' Fund

Lake Hopatcong eatery will donate 15 percent of sales during three-hour period to help injured U.S. Marine.

The American Legion Post 423 will sponsor a dinner at Wendy's on Route 15 South in Lake Hopatcong on Thursday to benefit the "Alonso Strong" fund.

Aaron Alonso, a U.S. Marine who lost both his legs in an explosion in Afghanistan earlier this year, received the Purple Heart last month and continues to recover at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Wendy's will donate 15 percent of all sales between 5 and 8 p.m. Thursday to the "Alonso Strong" fund. This includes all purchases made inside the restaurant, takeout orders and drive-thru orders.

The Alonso Strong fund has already raised nearly $95,000.
