Local Businesses Join Forces to Aid Injured Jefferson Marine

Several vendors will set up at the American Legion Post 423 from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday to benefit Alonso Strong fund.

Local businesses are coming out Sunday to help support a Jefferson Marine who was injured in Afghanistan.

Vendors will set up at the American Legion Post 423 on Legion Road from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and will donate a portion of their sales to the Alonso Strong fund. The Lake Hopatcong Wendy's donated 15 percent of its sales during a three-hour period Thursday night to the fund.

The fund has raised nearly $100,000 for Aaron Alonso, a U.S. Marine who lost both his legs in an explosion in Afghanistan earlier this year. Alonso received the Purple Heart last month and continues to recover at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Among the vendors participating on Sunday include Lia Sophia, Mary Kay, Scentsy Fragrance, Pampered Chef, Isotonics, Tupperware, Simply Sweet Cakes and Treats, Making a Splash and Chair Massages.
