Therapy Dogs Comfort Library Patrons

Volunteers bring their pets in for a visit.

There's nothing like a snuggle with a dog to make anyone feel better. Dogs provide unconditional love and support for people going through physical, mental or emotional trauma.

Several therapy dogs visited the Jefferson Library recently. The visit was arranged through Carolyn King of Therapy Dog International. About six volunteers visited the library with eight dogs.

The volunteer handlers all spoke about how rewarding it was to be involved in Therapy Dog International. They gave information about how people can get their dogs certified to be therapy dogs.

Donna Riley-Sweet, of Victory Animal Rescue, brought her therapy dog, a gray poodle mix who has been blind since birth, and spoke about how much pleasure and joy he gives to people in nursing homes, hospitals, hospices, shelters and other places they visit.
