Christmas in the Village

The Jefferson Arts Committee's upcoming Christmas in the Village event is on Saturday, December 3rd when The historic Milton Village area will come alive with live entertainment, shopping opportunities, and delicious food from 10 am to 4 pm!  Venues include St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, the Jefferson Township Fire Co. No. 1's firehouse, Milton United Methodist Church, and the Jefferson Township Museum - all within walking distance of each other.  Free Admission,  Free parking at all venues with overflow parking at the American Legion Post 423 lot on Legion Road.

Entertainment:

             St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church located at 153 Milton Road will be the setting for live entertainment by the White Rock Elementary School’s Band and Chorus, the Jefferson Township Middle School Band, the Arthur Stanlick Elementary School Band and Chorus, the Jefferson Township High School Band, and the Jefferson Township Community Band.

              Milton United Methodist Church at 316 Dover-Milton Road will host live entertainment with performances by the Jefferson Township Madrigal Singers; the Milton United Methodist Church’s very own Glory Chimes, Youth Choir, and Junior Bells; the choral group Voices in the Wilderness; a Community Carol Sing; and The Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Church’s Choir.

             Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1’s firehouse at 162 Milton Road will be transformed into a Holiday Marketplace with 15 arts, crafts, and merchandise vendors as well as the site for live entertainment featuring performances by members of the dance troupes from Dance Academy of North Jersey, Diane’s School of Dance, and Diva Dance Dynamics.  The Jefferson Community Players will present a sneak preview of their upcoming adaptation of Heidi followed by the improv group Uncorked with guaranteed audience participation and laughs, and The Girl Scouts of Jefferson will lead a holiday sing-a-long.

             The Jefferson Township Historical Society will offer tours with costumed docents at the holiday decorated Jefferson Township Museum located at 315 Dover-Milton Road.  Each room of the Chamberlain home circa 1870 will be decorated around the theme of “Home at the North Pole”.  Several musicians including Dianna Filan, Margaret Brandell, the King Family Trio, Dorothy Laoisa, and George Pantelides will play the Museum’s Harmonium, an antique pump organ played only during Christmas in the Village.

Shopping Opportunities:

The Holiday Marketplace  will be sited in the Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1’s firehouse at 162 Milton Road in Oak Ridge, NJ on Saturday, December 3 from 10 am to 4 pm.

             Vendors this year will include:  

•Nicole Skrek’s A Chocolate Lab – offering gourmet holiday cookies and gourmet holiday gift baskets and boxes;
•Shari Decker with Home Decor - items to decorate your home   

•Bookmarks by Tommy Tuosto;
•Michele Beckerman’s Just Ducky & Friends– musical animated animals that move and sing and her Glo-For-It line of light-up flashing novelties;
•Lia Sophia Jewelry dealer Renee Marinello;
•Premier Designs Jewelry dealer Elisa      DeYoung;
•Project Porchlight volunteers will be distributing complimentary CFL bulbs to encourage people to switch from old fashioned incandescent light bulbs to new energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs;
•Eileen and Sal      Librizzi’s SES Sports – bank, lamps, birdhouses, wood coasters, and signs that are all sports-related;
•Betsy Cecere’s Scentsy – wickless candle systems, electric warmers that melt scented wax, and 80 wax scents;
•Rachael English’s home-based business Tastefully Simple line offering breads, sauces, jellies, cake, and other food items;
•Kerry Chromcik’s Thirty One Gifts featuring handbags, totes, cosmetic cases, lunch bags, etc.
•Tupperware dealer Claudia      Soloman brings preparation, storage, containment, and serving products for the kitchen and home;
•Carl Holzwarth’s Turnstone International Inc. offers unique photo keepsake ornaments – bring along a favorite photo and purchase a 2011 Jefferson Arts Committee ornament;
•Sue Lee’s Usborne Books & More – hands-on interactive educational books for infants up to young adults as well as parent guides;
•Jefferson Highlights with Art Bonito promoting Jefferson Highlights Community TV (cable) and the rockin’ 2012 Summer Concert Series to be held at Camp Jefferson; and
•Jefferson Arts Committee hosting a 50/50 raffle, membership information, and selling Jefferson  Township Gazebo wood cut-outs.
         Just across the street at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, you will find members of the Jefferson Township High School Band Parents Association selling hand-decorated fresh evergreen holiday wreaths among other merchandise and craft vendors.  And at 28 Legion Road, the American Legion Post will be selling live Christmas trees.

Food and refreshments:

               First, start the day off at the Milton First Aid Squad Building located at 45 Milton Road to enjoy a delicious pancake and waffle breakfast with sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, and beverages.

             As you proceed through the other venues to enjoy live entertainment, stop by St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church at 153 Milton Road for their delicious hot soup and sandwiches. 

             Coffee and desserts will be available at Headley Hall at the Milton United Methodist Church, 316 Dover-Milton Road during the event.

             If you’re looking for a hot dog, chili, donuts, chips, hot chocolate and other beverages, be sure to stop by Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1’s kitchen located in their firehouse at 162 Milton Road.  The Ladies Auxiliary will be waiting for you when you done shopping the 15 vendor spaces that will be in the building.

             As always, enjoy some hot-mulled cider by the pot-belly stove behind the Jefferson Township Museum, 315 Dover-Milton Road and enjoy the lovely decorations throughout the historic building.
