Residents to Perform in Comedy Show

Improv shows coming from Off Book.

Jefferson residents Dawn James and Jason Nicholas are part of a improv comedy troupe called Off Book. They will be performing this weekend at the Pax Amicus Theater in Budd Lake. What follows is their thoughts on the upcoming shows:

Popularity of the TV show “Whose Line is it Anyway” has created awareness of the age old art of Improv. A professional company created by Nick deVries, an entertaining improv artist in his own right, has emerged from the Pax Amicus Theater in Budd Lake. The theater will be opening the doors to the public for a weekend of laughter. OFF BOOK, a talented group of improv performers will take the stage with a Friday night PG show and a Saturday night Rated R show for theatergoers 16 and up.

The cast of OFF BOOK specializes in short form improv, short scenes made up completely from scratch using a structured game and audience suggestion driving it.  Audience members can shout out their ideas when called upon. Some games even warrant audience members being pulled up onstage. The evening is loaded with fun and laughs. Shows are good for the whole family with the exception of the Rated R night of course.

“The show is a fantastic way for people to see what we do,” comments Dawn James, member of OFF BOOK, “We do private shows for fund raisers, corporations, and schools. Coming to our show is a write-off for those people!”  The modest ticket price is $10 for the performances, and it is a two-hour show starting at 8pm.  Live theater at the same price of a movie theater ticket!

For tickets to the show visit www.paxamicus.com, or you can call the theater directly to reserve your ticket at 973-691-2100.
