Music, Comedy and Roller Derby Highlight the Weekend

You have your pick of a variety of activities.

The weekend is upon us again. What, no plans yet? Fear not. Patch can help you get the weekend off to a rolicking start and finish. So pick an event (or 2) and have a good time!

Why Go: You want to spend your lunch break enjoying some fine, free music.

When/Where: Friday, 8 p.m. at Mayo Performing Arts Center, Morristown
Why Go: You want some city yuks without the train fare into the city.
Cost: $25

When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the National Guard Armory
Why Go: Your car can use a spruce, and you want to help support the Scouts.
Cost: $5

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. at The Red Oaks School, Morristown
Why Go: You have a kid aged 8-12 that loves games and is curious about how to make them.
Cost: Free

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. (ribbon cutting at noon) at the Morristown & Morris Township Library
Why Go: Because this part of the library is the last to reopen after a May 2010 explosion shut the whole place down.
Cost: Free

When/Where: Saturday, 1 p.m. at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, Morris Township
Why Go: You want to help plant the seeds and varieties of plants that farmers from way back planted.
Cost: Regular farm admission

When/Where: Saturday, 6:30 p.m. at Inline Morristown
Why Go: You want to see Morris County's own roller derby team show their stuff.
Cost: $12

When/Where: Sunday, 1 p.m. (registration opens at 11 a.m.) from the Morristown Green
Why Go: You want to support the cause.
Cost: Free

Youth Auction
When/Where: Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the  on Union Avenue in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To support the Bridgewater United Methodist Church Youth Organization, which is holding an auction for such prizes as a one-week stay at a Florida vacation condo, a long weekend stay at a home in Vermont, Disney tickets, Papermill Playhouse tickets and more.
Cost: $40 at the door.

Bridgewater Eco-Blast Fair
When/Where: Saturday at 10 a.m. at the , at Kid Street, in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To learn more about sustainable living, learn green practices and to see a talking robot hang out with the crowd.
Cost: Free.

Martinsville Community Center Open House
When/Where: Saturday at 11 a.m. at the center on Washington Valley Road in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To renew your membership at the center, check out what it has to offer, listen to live music and eat, eat, eat!
Cost: Free.

Rabies Clinics
When/Where: Saturday starting at 10 a.m. for dogs, and 11 a.m. for cats at the  on Old York Road.
Why Go: To have your dogs and cats immunized against rabies.
Cost: Free.

Strive for 5K
When/Where: Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Prince Rodgers Complex on Prince Rodgers Avenue.
Why Go: To support the Bridgewater Baseball 12U team in its fundraiser to raise enough money to get to its Cooperstown, New York tournament. This is also part of the Mayors Wellness Campaign in Bridgewater.
Cost: Free.

Central Jersey Symphony
When/Where: Sunday at 3 p.m at Raritan Valley Community College at the .
Why Go: To see the final concert of the season with two New Jersey artists, violinist Evelyn Estava and cellist Jameson Platte, joining forces on Brahms' Double Concerto. Also on the program is Gabriel Faure's "Pelleas et Melisande" and Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances.
Cost: $20 for general admission, $15 for students and $10 for seniors.

When/Where: Sunday at 7 p.m. at the , 33 Baldwin Road, Parsippany
Why Go: Ending a marriage isn't easy. This support group for divorced and separated people can help you navigate the rough spots and get on with building your new life.
Cost: $1

Why Go: To enjoy a fun day with the family, including crafts, a scavenger hunt, games and races, an open house at the Stickley Museum and more
Cost: $7 adults (if accompanying children, free); $7 non-member children, $5 member children

Why go: Treat yourself to the best of Broadway—from "Rent" to "A Chorus Line"—and support the Chatham Music and Theater Boosters in this first annual fundraiser.

Why go: Discuss the challenges of new motherhood with peers and a licensed social worker.
Cost: $10
