The restaurant, which succumbed to an overnight fire in January, was rebuilt in just four months. Early in the process, owner George Markou promised his customers would be eating clams by Memorial Day.

The actual opening day is still unknown, and Markou is calling it a surprise, dailyrecord.com reported.

With that, however, the owner said it would be open for Memorial Day – less than a week away.

Known for its signature animal heads adorning the walls, the new Pub 199 has done the same, with the pieces currently covered by garbage bags – yet another surprise by the owner.
