Bacteria in Drinking Water, Fire Chief Suspension Top Local News

Lake Hopatcong residents’ drinking water contained coliform bacteria, according to samples taken in June by the township’s Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA).

Students at Jefferson Township’s Junior Police Academy got a visit from a Medevac on Monday—but not because anyone needed to be rushed to the hospital.

Atlantic Air One’s Medevac visited the aspiring police officers to show them what the aircraft looks like and what it does.

4:30 p.m.: Weldon Road has been reopened in both directions after having been closed due to downed power lines caused by a fallen tree at Jessica Court, township officials said.

The tree fell at about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, causing lines to come down across the road.

There were bouncy houses, basketball hoops, pony rides, free hot dogs and tours of ambulances in Jefferson Township on Tuesday. All were in honor of National Night Out, an annual event designed to bring awareness to protecting neighborhoods from crime.
