Jefferson Budgets Take Center Stage This Week

Municipal, school spending plans go to the county for approval to start March.

The first week of March in Jefferson is an important one, as municipal and school tentative budgets are due to the county for approval.

Jefferson Township Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 6, to go over its proposed budget for the 2013 fiscal year, making it public to residents.

The meeting is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m. at the municipal building. All residents are encouraged to attend.

Jefferson schools will need its budget prepared and set for county approval by Friday, March 8. A meeting will be Monday on the topic. Find out more here.

The district was awarded its state aid for the upcoming school year on Feb. 28. The number stayed flat–the same as the current year’s spending plan–at $15,757,785.

The district received a 4.3-percent increase in state aid from 2011-12 and 2012-13.
