Jefferson Tree Lighting, 'Visit With Santa' This Week

A look at the week full of holiday events going on this week in Jefferson.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday

The township's Christmas tree will be lit on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Jefferson Township Gazebo. There will be holiday music, a reading of the “The Night Before Christmas," a visit with Santa, and refreshments offered at the holiday celebration.

Santa Comes to Camp Jefferson 

The Recreation Department is hosting a "visit with Santa" on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson. Mrs. Claus and Rudolph will join Santa in handing out good wishes and candy canes to the children. There will be a variety of other holiday activities as well, including holiday music, children’s’ coloring pages, and opportunities to write letters to Santa at the North Pole.

Arts Committee Hosts Annual 'Christmas in the Village'

The Jefferson Arts Committee is hosting the 7th annual Christmas in the Village on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the historic Village of Milton. The day will start off with a pancake and waffle breakfast hosted by the Milton First Aid Squad, and will have a number of musical performances, tours of the holiday decorated Jefferson Township Museum, food, and arts and crafts throughout the day.

Chorus Performs 'Gettin' in the Mood For Christmas'

The Jefferson Township Community Chorus with special guests 'White Rock School Fifth Grade Chorus' will peform at their concert "Gettin' in the Mood for Christmas" on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Grace Church.

Museum Presents 'A Woodland Christmas'

The Jefferson Township Museum presents its Christmas celebration “A Woodland Christmas” on Saturday at 10 a.m. The museum will have each room decorated using natural materials, play music with the antique harmonium, have docents dressed in period costumes, and serve hot cider outside.

Holiday Readings at Library

Actress Michele LaRue will give two dramatic readings at the Jefferson Township Public Library on Sunday at 2 p.m. LaRue will read Sarah Orne Jewett's Winter Courtship and O.Henry's Gift of the Magi. To register, visit www.jeffersonlibrary.net, or call the library at 973-208-6244.
