What kind of a Town have we become ? These people say they are innocent. All they want is a fair Trial. There is no motivation! The dogs are absolutely beautiful and perfectly trained. I have lived in Oakridge my entire life and maybe it is finally time for me to speak up. I for one am ashamed of our mayor, ashamed of our prosecutor, and I pray to God Almightly that the Honorable Judge at least gives them a chance to present their point of view. Shame on you Jefferson ! Shame on You !

Oh, please... Why don't you dog sit for them along with a few toddlers and report back to us about how terrible our town is?!

JUSTICE FOR SOME DOGS Today I witnessed an interesting event out my window at 7:30 am. A man was walking 2 dogs - one white and one large dog - white with a brown face - the dogs were running WILD AT 7;30 AM WITHOUT LEASHES. someone called to the man - and said "Your dog is loose" but the man ignored the woman. Within 10 minutes the police came to one of the houses here on Summerwalk Circle which is where the Kolbs live. Within 2 minutes, the police left - NO TICKET NO COMPLAINT AND I PERSONALLY KNOW THE LARGE DOG HAS BEEN CAUGHT BEFORE DIGGING IN OTHER RESIDENTS GARDENS When we didn't know the Kolbs or their dogs - I understood. In fact, I too wanted the dogs out of our neighborhood. Now that I know them - and have read their story on their website SaveNJdogs.com I SAY GIVE THE KOLBS BACK THEIR DOGS THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS CONFINE THE DOGS TO THE HOUSE AND THE BACKYARD IF YOU MUST BUT THEY DESERVE THE PETS THEY LOVE THEY HAVE PROVEN THEY ARE GOOD CITIZENS AND WELL ABLE TO HANDLE JUMBA AND IMANI

They can have a fair trial if they want. This is a plea deal being offered to them. If they don't want it they are welcome to go to trial and receive a fair trial. But to be ashamed of the prosecutor? For what? For offering a plea deal to try to save you the tax dollars that would be wasted on going to trial with a repeat offender? Are you ashamed of your mayor for making a point to protect the citizens from dogs that have been proven dangerous in a Jersey City court? Who should the mayor be protecting instead? Should he focus his energy protecting two dogs that were moved to your town by a couple whose only care is the safety of their dogs? These people don't care about you or your town. If they did care their dogs would have been muzzled. These people don't care about you so why should you, your mayor, or your prosecutor care about them? These dog's attacked me in Jersey City in 2009. When I saw Mr. Kolb walking the dog and tried to get information about whether the dogs had been vaccinated and where the dogs resided he responded that he didn't know who I was or what I was talking about and walked away-this was two days after his dogs had attacked me and bit my groin. That isn't somebody who cares about their neighbors, that is someone who only cares about their dogs. I had to keep getting rabies shots until 4 days later when the dogs attacked again and the police found they had been vaccinated. Enjoy your new neighbors. -James Joyce

Hi CookieMaker42- I hope they move to your neighborhood if they receive the dogs back- I hope you can run fast

At this point the matter isn't really about the dogs, it is about these people not following the rules that they agreed to in order to keep the dogs. I am a dog lover myself and if it meant keeping my dogs, I would do whatever it takes. These people act like they are above the law and can do whatever they want and they just want to pass the blame to someone else.

Since every comment on every NJ website about these dogs has consistenly been these dogs need to be removed from these owners immediately, I am a bit skeptical when I see somebody say that the Kolb's are good citizens and able to handle Jumba and Imani, so it's not a reach to think that CookieMaker42 is one of the Kolbs trying to sway public opinion. On the slight chance that this person is not one of the Kolbs, then let me respond by saying I watched Susan Kolb get dragged down the block by these two dogs while she was lying on the ground trying to restrain them from their continued attack on me. Nothing about that situation struck me as a person cabable of handling these dogs. When Gary Kolb refused to give me information about his dogs, information that would have ended the painful rabies shots I was receiving, in hopes of protecting himself that wasn't the actions of a good citizen. The Kolb's were told they couldn't have their dogs in Jersey City but they were caught with them less then a year later. Do these sound like good citizens? Do they sound responsible? Life is nice when you can stroll through it like a Disney movie thinking that everybody is good and every "saveourdogstory" is true. Well when you're walking to work at 6:45 on a cold dark January morning and two dogs attacks you, one biting your scrotum, and you have to get rabies shots IN THE WOUND and the dog owners won't help you try having that rosy attitude. Good Citizens? Responsible owners? Joke!

Dear James, First of All, I am sorry anyone was hurt. Gary remembers the night you approached him. He had just come back from Ohio and didn't know who you were. Gary was not the person to approach. Your doctor and your lawyer should have contacted us, our lawyer, the dogs' veterinarian or our insurance agent to find out whether the dogs were vaccinated or not. Perhaps you had an alternate agenda. I will always wonder why you approached the dogs that morning. I will also wonder why you did not wince in pain, your pants were not torn and you did not show any discomfort especially since you claim you were bit in such a delicate area. As far as the current charges, we did not do anything. Nothing happened. No one was hurt. The dogs did not do anything. That is why THIS TIME we are speaking up and defending ourselves. Susan

Yes - it is about the people The people didn';t do anything. No one was hurt. The dogs didn't do anything. Do you know what we are accused of? I am accused of walking my dog without a muzzle at 6 am in total darkness with no one around. I did not do this. Why would I ? And the only evidence against me is a police sitting in his police car 100 feet away who claims he saw a black faced dog without a black nylon muzzle and that he saw me THROUGH Gary who was standing 50 feet in front of me. I am an old lady. For more than 60 years of my life I have followed every law. Come and meet me. Ring my bell. Or better yet, visit our website SaveNJdogs.com and meet the dogs and see the kind of owners we are. What would you do if YOU were wrongly accused of a crime? Wouldn't you fight to clear your name? Susan

CookieMaker42, you are using the same handle or id that Susan Kolb uses to post at www.nj.com. You're acting like there is another person speaking up for the Kolb family and their dogs, yet I think these comments come directly from one of the Kolb family members. Next time use a different handle to conceal your identity and make it look like there are other people speaking up for the Kolbs (but you probably wouldn't fool me with that either). In any case, you are sick people who acted above the law and will probably act above the law again. Not once have you ever mentioned anything about the court orders from Jersey City that required you to send the dogs out of state as well as the unpaid municipal fines. Whatever happened in Jefferson doesn't change what happened in Jersey City. Shame on you, that's all I can say.
Chris Johnson October 25, 2012 at 02:50 AM
Shame on you for breaking the laws and disobeying the Jersey City court order. People in glass houses should not throw stones and the pot should not call the kettle black.

While I don't want to go through the ends and outs of the attack I do have to call into question the character of Susan Kolb. I have used my name in every post I have written on this site while you have pretended to be someone else. In an earlier post on this blog you stated " I too wanted the dogs out of the neighborhood." What did you mean by that? Why do you refer to the Kolbs in third person? Are you Susan Kolb? Do you really want your dogs out of the neighborhood? And when you ask "what kind of town have we become?" How does that work? You've lived in the town for a year right? or have you lived in oak ridge your entire life? From a 28 year old to a 60 year old get your facts straight. You tell different stories to different news sources on record every time. Don't play victim to the situation you put yourself in. When you lose the dogs you will be the only person still wondering why I didn't wince in pain that morning. Let me answer that- you didn't see me wince in pain because you we're being dragged down the sidewalk begging your dogs to stop attacking me. Next time pay attention to the victim and not the dogs.

So what happened in court today? Anyone care to shed some light?
