Report: Family Sues Army Over Dead Cat

Says $7,386 settlement offer was rejected

A Jefferson family is suing the U.S. Army four years after a projectile from Picatinny Arsenal killed the family cat, saying years of settlement negations haven't worked out, the New Jersey Herald reports (registration may be required to see the Herald story).

The projectile crashed through the roof and landed on the bed of the family's 10-year-old daughter, though the girl was not in the room. The family cat was fatally injured.

According to the report, the family is seeking compensatory and punitive damages in a federal suit. Frederick Angle, the father of the family, told the Herald the family rejected a $7,386 offer last fall.
