Route 15 Bridge Construction to Start in Fall

DOT will be hold meeting to inform residents.

The deck of the Espanong Road/Weldon Road bridge over Route 15 is secheduled to be replaced this fall. In anticipation of resident questions, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) will hold an information session at On June 14 from 6 - 8 p.m. This is not a two-hour meeting; instead it is the opportunity for residents to stop by at their convenience to look at the proposed detour map and ask questions of DOT officials, according to Ed Mangold, deputy coordinator of Jefferson Township's Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

The project will include replacing the deck and repairing piers and abutments, along with minor work on the bridge approaches, according to a letter to the township from the DOT. The construction will require that half of the bridge be closed at a time, which will also require the closing of the entrance and exit ramps connected to the closed portion of the bridge.

Proposed detours have been planned out, and information on them will be available at the June 14 meeting.
