School Board, Council in Session This Week

Governing body set to approve fiscal spending plan.

There are two major meetings ahead in Jefferson this week, one at the board of education and another with the town council.

On Wednesday, at 6 p.m., the Jefferson Mayor and Council will meet and authorize three resolutions pertaining to the 2013 budget, according to its agenda. One of those resolutions will be the adoption of the budget itself.

The council is also expected to appoint two firefighters–Glenn M. Kozlik and Kyle J. Peter–to Fire Department No. 2.

On Monday, April 15, the Jefferson Board of Education is scheduled to meet for open session at 8 p.m. This is the first session since the board approved its 2013-14 school budget.

That budget comes with a $122 tax increase on the average township home. There was no increase in state aid from the current year to the upcoming school year. The district is sustaining all programs and adding new courses.
