Today is School Election Day

Here's what you need to know before you go to the polls.

Today is school election day. It’s your chance to have your say in who represents your children on the board of education, and whether or not to pass the proposed school budget. Here are five things you need to know about today’s election:

  1. You Need to Know Where to Vote: Depending on where in town you live, you vote at either the, the Municipal Building, the Senior Center or the .
  2. You Need to Know When to Vote: The polls open at 2 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.
  3. You Need to Know the Candidates: There are three open seats on the board of education, and 11 people running to fill those seats. They are: ,, Paul Hartle, James Hine, , ,
  4. You Need to Know the Budget Number: The number if $38,131,038. The proposed tax rate if $1.28 per $100 of assessed value of a home. For a typical homeowner, that would mean $4,094 in school taxes.
  5. You Need to Know More About Taxes: There is with this budget. The levy is the same for the proposed 2011-2012 budget as it was for 2010-2011 budget, currently in effect.
