Christmas in the Village

                      Christmas in the Village ushers in the holidays

      The Jefferson Arts Committee will host the 8th annual Christmas in the Village event on Saturday, December 7 from 10 am to 4 pm in the historically designated Village of Milton (vicinity of Milton and Dover-Milton Roads) in the Milton/Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township.  Admission is free unless otherwise noted, and parking is free at all venues.
     Starting the day off, The Milton First Aid Squad will host their annual Pancake and Waffle Breakfast at their building located at 45 Milton Road.  Breakfast is $8 pp (16 yrs and up), $6 pp (Seniors 62+), $5 each children 5 yrs +), and children under 5 are free. 
     St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church located at 153 Milton Road will be the setting for live entertainment at 10 am by the White Rock School Chorus, at approximately 11:45 am by the JTHS Madrigal Singers and Select Choir, at 1:15 pm by the Stanlick School Chorus, at 2 pm by the Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Church Praise Band, and at 3 pm by the Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Church Choir. The Church kitchen will be selling soup, sandwiches, and refreshments, and several vendors will be selling their merchandise. 
     Milton United Methodist Church at 316 Dover-Milton Road will host live entertainment in their church sanctuary (corner of Dover Milton and Schoolhouse Roads) with performances by the White Rock School Band at 10 am, the Jefferson Township Community Band will perform their holiday concert at 11 am (a free-will donation would be appreciated), the Stanlick School Band performs at 1:15 pm, and a Carol Sing takes place at 2:15 PM.  The Church kitchen will be selling dessert items in Headley Hall.  The Brown Sisters will perform in the church’s historic Sanctuary at 1:15 pm. 
     Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1’s firehouse at 162 Milton Road will be transformed into The Village Marketplace with 18 arts, crafts, and merchandise vendors.  Here the Girl Scouts of Jefferson will lead a holiday sing-a-long at at 10:30 am, the students of Diane’s Dance Academy 23 will perform at 2:30 pm, and the students of the Oak Ridge Martial Arts Academy will demonstrate their skills at 11:45 am.  Members of the Ladies Auxiliary will be selling chili, hot dogs, donuts, and refreshments.
    The Jefferson Township Historical Society will offer tours with costumed docents at the holiday decorated Jefferson Township Museum located at 315 Dover-Milton Road.  Each room of the Chamberlain home circa 1870 will be decorated around the theme of “Sugar and Spice”.  Several musicians will play the Museum’s Harmonium, an antique pump organ played only during Christmas in the Village.  Miss Elizabeth’s Shoppe will be selling baked goods, antiques, and unique gifts.  The Museum will re-open on Sunday from 12 noon to 4 pm.
    American Legion Post #423 will be selling live Christmas trees in the parking lot of their post home located at 28 Legion Road.
    The Jefferson Community Players will perform the radio plays “Father Knows Best” and “Our Miss Brooks” on Saturday evening with a performance at 7 pm in the Jefferson Township Senior Center, 54 Schoolhouse Road and a second performance on Sunday, December 8 at 1:30 pm.  Admission is free with refreshments available at a nominal cost.
    On Sunday, December 8, the Jefferson Township Community Chorus will present their holiday concert “Holiday Treasures” at the Grace Evangelical Church, 5550 Berkshire Valley Road at 6 pm.  Light refreshments will follow. Ticket Info: Janet at 973-697-8124.
