Jefferson’ Community Concert/Jazz Bands perform on Jefferson Day

One of the highlights of Jefferson Township Day every year is a performance by the Jefferson Township Community Concert Band and its Jazz Band.  This year will be no exception as the talented members of these bands take the main stage on Saturday, July 13th at 5 pm.

The Community Band will present a wonderful repertoire of popular favorites including the classics, Broadway musicals, standard marches, and patriotic salutes performed by talented local musicians under the direction of Peter Tummillo. Also performing will be the energizing jazz band ensemble also directed by Tummillo with some pieces that will definitely  jog your memory.

The Jefferson Township Community Band was formed in 1992 under the direction of Peter Tummillo, then Director of the Jefferson Township High School instrumental and marching bands. The Band operates under the umbrella of the Jefferson Arts Committee.

The philosophy behind the formation of the Community Band is to provide an avenue of expression to the instrumentalists of the community and an opportunity for them to continue playing with a group after formal education has been completed. Membership is open to all regardless of age and level of musicianship.
