Jefferson Township Museum Open HOuse

The
Jefferson Township Museum, also known as the George Chamberlain House, will
have an open house on Sunday, May 4, 2014,
from 1 to 4 pm when  costumed docents will be at the museum.  Admission is free.  This month’s exhibit will continue the theme “Little House in the Valley” with an
emphasis on the parallels between the two families of Laura Ingalls Wilder and
the Chamberlains. The Museum, located at 315 Dover-Milton Road, was entered
into the National and State Registers of Historic Places in 2009.  Be sure to visit Miss Elizabeth’s Shoppe located in the original kitchen of the
Museum, which will be stocked with Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books and other books
of local history, gifts from that period in addition to handmade and
handcrafted seasonal items.  Local potter
John Hedges will be featuring his work in the shop starting in April.  Be sure to visit the Museum open house on
June 1 when John will be giving a demonstration of his pottery making.  For
further information, refer to the Jefferson Township’s Historical Society
website at www.jthistoricalsociety.org,
or call Christine Williams, Jefferson Township Historical Society President at
973-697-0258.
