The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is sponsoring a school-based six-week ski/snowboard program at Mountain Creek in Vernon for Jefferson Township residents in grades three through 12 and their family and friends. Registration is available online directly through Jefferson Township’s module on the Mountain Creek website, and these special prices expire on Nov. 25.
Township students seven to 18 years old participating in the multi-trip program and taking the Rec Department bus may choose either a ski or snowboard package; all first-time participants must take the free lessons. A multi-trip program lift ticket including six lessons—one for each night the student skis or snowboards on the Jefferson Rec club dates—is available for $127.99. A Youth Club Member All Access season pass is also available for $229.99.
An optional equipment rental package which this year includes a free Helmet Rental and Rental Damage Insurance is $124.99 and valid on the club group nights. All skiers and snowboarders must wear helmets to protect against head injury.
The Recreation Department offers busing for the six group trips to/from Mountain Creek at $85 per person for students attending the Jefferson Township High School, Middle School, White Rock and Stanlick Schools. Students may bring their own equipment to their respective school the morning of each trip (not via the school bus) and on the ski bus with them to Mountain Creek.
The Jefferson Township Middle School/High School program and the Arthur Stanlick/White Rock Elementary School program will run Thursday evenings Jan. 9, 16, 23, and 30 and February 6 and 13, with make-up dates of Feb. 20 and 27.
The bus leaves directly from JTMS/JTHS at dismissal at 2:35 p.m. and returns at approximately 9:30 p.m. Another bus departs from the Stanlick School/White Rock School at 3:20 p.m. and returns to each school parking lot at about 8:45 p.m.
Meal vouchers are available for purchase as are passes for students' family members and friends.
For a complete registration packet with information and club-specific log-in and password, JTHS students should see biology teacher Gino Rose, JTMS students should see 7th grade language arts teacher Jessica Hoertel, Stanlick students should see special education teacher Amy Bush, and White Rock students should see 3rd grade teacher Christine Modula. Alternately, stop by the Recreation Department office at 81 Weldon Road at Camp Jefferson Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., call 973-663-8404 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
