I'll Worry About the Donation Boxes; You Supply the Candy, Deal?

The next step in my campagn to collect excess Halloween candy for deployed US Soldiers.

Just about a week until Halloween.  Seems like just yesterday the kids were going back to school, doesn't it? On today's agenda for me is getting the donation boxes ready for the excess Halloween Candy collection for Operation Gratitude, an organization that includes the candy in care packages to deployed US Soldiers.

After much debate, I've decided to paint the donation boxes.  Royal blue, to be exact.  After tossing around all types of scenarios (buying decorative boxes, wrapping them, painting them), I decided on painting. I managed to get my hands on some plain boxes and a trip to True Value for the paint and a cheap foam brush put me on my way. There's something therapeutic for me about just sitting and methodically painting these boxes today. Plus, it puts me one step closer to the candy collection I'm so excited about.

Look for these collection boxes to start beginning soon, with the actual collection taking place from November 1st-7th at many of the Jefferson Township Schools, as well as PostNet, located on Route 15 on the Lake Hopatcong side.

Next on my agenda is to find an establishment on the Milton side of town willing to also set up a donation box.

So far, I'm about twelve hours and $14 into this project and still feel its well worth it.
