Anne Rivano, 87, Dies

Oak Ridge resident since 1967.

Anne Rasmussen Rivano, 87, of Jefferson Township,  passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

She was born on January 30, 1925 in the Bronx, NY.  Her family moved to Sunset Park, Brooklyn in 1935. She spent her summers as a child at Flatland Bay, NY with family and friends sailing the waters on their boat, the “Annie J.”

She graduated from Girls Commercial High School, Brooklyn, NY in 1943.  That same year in September she married Nicholas. They were married for 62 years before he passed away in 2005.

Annie was a past member of the Longhito/Spinelli VFW Post, Ladies Auxiliary.  She moved to Jefferson Township, Oak Ridge, in 1967. During her senior years she was involved and volunteered her services to the Milton Senior Citizens and the Golden Age Club. She organized their monthly Arts and Crafts classes. She also wrote the column, for the AIM Action Ad, covering the local senior news, under the name of the “Silver Fox”.

She dedicated over 50 years to the Greater Girl Scouts of America, and was honored by the Morris County Chapter, as one of the oldest Girl Scouts in the County, which she took much pride in receiving.

She was a loving mother to James Rivano and his wife Judith, of Oak Ridge, Anne Pfeil and her husband Edward of Leesburg, FL, and Regina Rivano of Oak Ridge.

She leaves behind six grandsons: Damian and Devon, Scott and Eddie, and Nicholas and Anthony.  She was soon to be a great grandmother as well.

Her love will forever live on in our hearts.

There will be a memorial service for Anne at the Milton United Methodist Church, Milton on a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Milton First Aid Squad, 45 Milton Road, Milton, NJ 07438.
