Joseph A. Kelly Dies at 25: Was Waiter, Aspiring Carpenter

Joey Kelly's family said he loved working with his hands and beating his dad at 'Jeopardy.'

Joseph Alexander "Joey" Kelly of Lake Hopatcong died at his home last Wednesday at the age of 25, according to a notice on the website of Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville. 

Kelly grew up in Rockaway, attending St. Cecilia's grammar school, and studied through eighth grade at Unity Charter School in Morristown. The then attended Morris Hills High School and graduated with a mastery in carpentry from the Morris County School of Technology in Denville in 2006. 

He worked as a waiter in several restaurants in the area. 

He was bright and loved to work with his hands, his family said. Kelly also loved to act and enjoyed comedy, spent a lot of time listening to music and was a whiz at "Jeopardy," often beating his father.

He is survived by his mother, Toni Kelly of Newark, his father, Robert F. Kelly of Lake Hopatcong, eight siblings and their spouses and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral arrangements were directed by the Norman Dean Home for Services. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Cecilia's Church in Rockaway.
