Paul F. Arico, Government Employees Union Leader, Dies at 58

Arico was an avid and accomplished bowler, bowling one perfect 300 game.

Paul Francis Arico, of Hopatcong, died Wednesday at Morristown Medical Center, according to a notice on the website of the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home. He was 58 years old.

The Dover native moved to Hopatcong more than two decades ago. He spent his career working with the Defense Contracts Management Agency for the federal government and was active for over 25 years with the American Federation of Government Employees where he served as a steward and vice president.

Arico was an avid and accomplished bowler, bowling one perfect 300 game, as well as a 299, a 298 and a 297. He was also an excellent tennis player and was captain of his college team at County College of Morris in Randolph. He also enjoyed golf.

He is survived by wife Maryann Bishop Arico; daughters Margaret Mary and Kimberly Ann; mother Alma Blevins Arico; siblings Mary Petrock and husband Michael, Joseph Arico and wife Joan, James Arico and wife Diane and Denise Boehm and husband Tom; and nine nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.
