Roberta Jaques 'Bobbie' Claudin, Lived in Lake Hopatcong, Dies at 76

The well-liked grandmother, who loved living by the water, died on Jan. 21.

Roberta “Bobbie” Jaques Claudin, 76, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Born & raised in Staten Island, NY, she lived there for 40 years before moving to the Cranberry Lake section of Byram Twp. She liked being near the water living in Cranberry Lake, Lake Hopatcong and Cape Coral, FL before settling in at Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains 7 years ago.

She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandma and was lovingly known as “Googa.” Bobbie was an easy person to like, a great personality who enjoyed having fun and going places. We all have many memories of cruising in the boat to restaurants on the Lake or down the canals out to the Gulf of Mexico.

Bobbie also liked helping people. She was a Registered Nurse working at Dover General Hospital and Andover Nursing Home.

She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Claudin, parents Guyon and Eleanor Clark, her brother Paul Clark, and sons Dennis and Rodger Jaques.

Bobbie is survived by her three children: Arthur Warren Jaques and wife Gloria, Susan Jaques Bencivenga and husband Harry, and Karen Jaques Mesmer and husband Fred; her brother Joe “Biff” Clark and wife Helen. She also leaves 13 grandchildren: Nicole, Daniel, Damien, Lauren, Michele, Andrea, Frederick, Jacqueline, Christine, Veronica, Melissa, Austin and Erica; five great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Emily, Alyssa, Cassandra and Brandon; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 25 from the Morgan Funeral Home in Netcong to a funeral Mass at St. Michael's R.C. Church in Netcong.
