Jerry Wasdyke, Sheet Rock Installer of Oak Ridge, Dies at 77

Wasdyke's family said they'll most remember his loving nature and wit.

Jefferson Township resident Jerry C. Wasdyke died with his family by his side at his home Thursday, according to a notice on the website of Stickle Soltesz Funeral Home. He was 77 years old at the time of his death.

Wasdyke was born in Passaic in 1936. At age 22, he married Diana Van Beveren, and they raised their family in Oak Ridge.

He was employed with the Carpenters’ Union for many years as a sheet rock installer. His family said he will be remembered best for the love he showed them and for his sense of humor.

Jerry Wasdyke  is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diana Wasdyke; son Jerry C. Wasdyke Jr.; daughters DeeDee Witten and Carol June Wasdyke; grandchildren Joseph D. Goodman, Jerry C. Wasdyke III, Diana Goodman, Carrie Jayne Wasdyke, Jessie Hapgood and Jennie Hapgood; brother Jack Wasdyke and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
