Sparta police seized 70 bags of heroin, four vials of crack cocaine and marijuana laced with PCP after stopping a car on Route 15 Tuesday in a DWI investigation that led to four arrests.

Michael Scully, 24, of Montgomery, NY, the driver of the car, was charged with heroin possession, possession of Phencycladine, DWI, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and being an unlicensed driver, according to Sparta Police Sgt. John-Paul Beebe.

Passengers Brandon Walsh, 25, of Bayonne; Tanner Drake, 20, of Honesdale, Pa.; and Christina Saccone, 19, of Greenstown, Pa., also were charged with heroin possession, possession of Phencycladine, possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia. Walsh was additionally charged with possession of crack cocaine.

Scully's car was stopped just after 9 p.m. after an officer noticed her driving erratically, Beebe said. When speaking with the officer, Scully seemed nervous, spoke slow and was told to exit the car, according to Beebe.

Scully told police he had smoked marijuana earlier that evening and was driving from Jersey City with his friends, but did not know where he was going, Beebe said. Officers noticed the passengers moving around in the car and directed them to also leave the vehicle.

Beebe said Walsh's pants were rolled up unusually, with a bulge protruding and when officers inquired about the bulge, Walsh reached down and turned over 20 bags of heroin wrapped in cigarette packaging.

Officers searched the car and found the crack cocaine and less than 50 grams of the laced marijuana, Beebe said, as well as numerous torn glassine bags which hold heroin, small rubber bands, a burnt metal spoon, a hypodermic syringe and cotton balls.
