Burglaries, Thefts, Break-ins in Jefferson

The following information was supplied by the Jefferson Township police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Jefferson Township police have reported more alleged burglaries, thefts and break-ins throughout town:

Patrick Delaney, 25, of Pompton Plains was arrested and charged with burglary. Jewelry that had been removed from a home on Oriole Road was pawned, leading to Delaney’s arrest, police said.

The Oriole Road resident reported that she came home to find her front door and kitchen window open on Feb. 7. Police checked the residence and found that the upstairs bedrooms had been rummaged through. The resident determined that some jewelry was taken. Jefferson Detective Joe Kratzel found that the jewelry was pawned which led to Delaney’s arrest, police said. Delaney was already in custody in Vernon Township for other suspected burglaries in the town. He was held on $5,0000 bail in the Sussex County Jail.

On Feb. 8, a resident of Taylor Road reported to police that she heard her garage door open while she was inside her house. She found a person standing outside, police said. The person fled the scene when the resident turned a light on, police said. Police said they searched the area but did not find anyone.

On Feb. 10, a resident of Nolan’s Point Park Road reported to police that a camera bag with a Polaroid and Canon camera, a $200 Amazon gift card and $200 in cash were taken from his residence. The incident is under investigation.

On Feb. 21, a resident of East Shawnee Trail reported his vehicle’s windshield was smashed in, the front bumper was damaged and the rear passenger side tail light was broken, police said.. A window in his house was also broken. The incident is under investigation.

On Feb. 21, a resident of Rohs Road reported that she had left the residence at approximately in the morning. When she returned, she found the side door and the attic access door were open. A fire safe was taken, according to police. The Morris County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded as well as K-9. The incident is under investigation.

On Feb. 23, a resident of Espanong Road reported that someone damaged his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway. A cinder block was thrown through rear window and a rock through the left rear window, police said.

On Feb. 27, a resident of Abenaki Trail reported that sometime between Feb. 23 and 27, someone entered the home through an unlocked garage door. Jewelry with an estimated value of $2,200 was missing, according to police. The incident is under investigation.

On March 10, a resident of Lavina Trail reported that someone removed a stereo worth $300 from his residence, police said, adding that the home is for sale and has been unoccupied for several months.

On March 10, a resident of West Dewey Avenue reported that someone gained entry to her home and removed $10,000 worth of jewelry. There was no sign of forced entry, police said, adding that it appeared that access was gained through an unlocked basement door sometime between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 9. The Morris County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded. The incident is under investigation.
